Infected

Across America a mysterious disease is turning ordinary people into raving, paranoid murderers who inflict brutal horrors on strangers, themselves, and even their own families.

I enjoyed Infected and found myself wearing my headphones around the house so that I could keep listening to the story. There is a lot of violence in this novel so it isn't for everyone, but if you enjoy a good anti-hero who has a whole pile of issues to work through then you will like this story. I do believe that I've an author that I will keep an eye on to what he writes.

As you follow the set of characters through the discovery of the disease which is threatening the United States the pace of the novel moves between a headlong rush of, "Oh he is not going to do that! Damn, he did", and a more sedate pace during parts where scientists are trying desperately to understand what is going on while being hampered by the need for secrecy.
This is one of the things that made this book so compelling to me. There are also some genuine funny moments that had me actually chuckling.

Contagious

From the acclaimed author of Infected comes an epic and exhilarating story of humanity’s secret battle against a horrific enemy.

Contagious continues on with our heroes and picks up right where Infected left off. Both of these podiobooks are well worth listening to in my opinion.
