Finished listening to this awhile ago but didn't get around to posting about it. Worth listening to if you can stand all of the improbable coincidences that the story is filled with. One or two here and there are alright but this whole story is just one thing right after another. It's still good enough that you can kill some time with it but it does get a little tedious.

Infected
Across America a mysterious disease is turning ordinary people into raving, paranoid murderers who inflict brutal horrors on strangers, themselves, and even their own families.
I enjoyed Infected and found myself wearing my headphones around the house so that I could keep listening to the story. There is a lot of violence in this novel so it isn't for everyone, but if you enjoy a good anti-hero who has a whole pile of issues to work through then you will like this story. I do believe that I've an author that I will keep an eye on to what he writes.
As you follow the set of characters through the discovery of the disease which is threatening the United States the pace of the
novel moves between a headlong rush of, "Oh he is not going to do that! Damn, he did", and a more sedate pace during parts where
scientists are trying desperately to understand what is going on while being hampered by the need for secrecy.
This is one of the things that made this book so compelling to me. There are also some genuine funny moments that had me actually chuckling.
Contagious
From the acclaimed author of Infected comes an epic and exhilarating story of humanity’s secret battle against a horrific enemy.
Contagious continues on with our heroes and picks up right where Infected left off. Both of these podiobooks are well worth listening to in my opinion.

The Secret World Chronicles
As I stated in an earlier post I've finished listening to the three main line novels and I'm now stuck waiting for the next one. At least I hope there will be a next one. From a bit that I read from Mercedes Lackey's blog I think there will be another one. Don't know for sure if it will be a podcast book or in print but she seems to still be working on stories for this series. She mentions that she and Dennis Lee just finished one of the Secret World stories.
I am really excited because Dennis Lee and I just finished one of the Secret World stories I have literally been dreaming about for days. We've all seen those scenes in movies where there is no sound other than the music track: well, part of this story played out in my head in exactly that manner.
I don't know if the fact that there are going to print versions of the books now, published by Baen, means an end to the audio versions or not. There doesn't seem to have been any updates on the Secret World Blog since January of 2008. The last installment of the third book World Well Lost was posted in August of 2010 though so maybe the lack of posting at the blog just means that the authors are using some other means of keeping everyone updated. Most likely a damned facebook page, I really despise facebook. Yep, after a little google here it is on facebook, damn. After wading through only a little bit on the wall there I found this from Veronica Giguere. The woman who has done most of the reading for these books.
Veronica Giguere Ha! I will be starting the recordings for Book Four very soon. September 7 at 5:29pm
So I just might not have to wait all that long for the podcasts of the fourth book after all.

Secret World Chronicles 2 and 3
Finished listening to the second and third books of The Secret World Chronicles as could be expected the third one didn't really end. It moved the story forward some more and we all know a little more about the Thule as well as the characters are being developed more. I really hope that the authors don't leave this hanging. It has kept me interested through all three books even though they are basically a collection of short stories from all of the authors.
I've run up against the same problem that I encounter with all of the series that I read. I'm caught up to the last book and now I'll just have to wait until they decide to release some more of their stories for everyone to enjoy.

The Secret World Chronicle Book One
Finished listening to the Secret World Chronicle Book One: Invasion, and it was alright. Not great but good enough that I've already started listening to book 2.
