Archos 70

2010-09-25 by derrell, tagged as nerdy, tech_pron

These new gen8 android tablets from Archos caught my attention about a month ago and I have been coveting them ever since. They range in screen size from 3.2 inches to 10.1 inches. The one that has caught my attention the most is the 7 inch 70 tablet. It looks like it will be big enough to use while still being small enough to fit into a hand easily.

Once these come out in October I think that I will just almost have to have one. Right now it looks like they will ship with android 2.1 but 2.2 will be available for upgrade.

Update

The Archos 70 is up for preorder at JR.com . Found this little tidbit at the ArchosFans forum site. I'm wondering when newegg.com will start offering them.

Image Popup Test

2010-09-12 by derrell, tagged as nerdy

Trying out some new stuff for the blog. Image popup script from Dynamic Drive.

First the old regular thumbnailed images.

Now this should create links that will cause the images to be displayed in a popup image box.

Upgrade to Ubuntu 10.4

2010-08-28 by derrell, tagged as nerdy

Well this is what happens when you go for a long time between blog posts. You set up a really cool simple automated system to get your posts from the text editor to the blog then you go a few months without using it and bam your left sitting there, scratching your head and wondering just how the hell you go about getting this thing work again. You remember it being really cool and simple but it doesn't seem that way now. Crap I knew I should added more comments to that perl code.

After much probing around and wondering if I decided to go ahead and use markdown on all the posts or just leave that as optional I think that I have this down again. I think we'll see when this actually posts.

So this is as much a test post as it is a blog update. Sheesh, this was really easy back in February what the hell happened?

So after using Ubuntu 9.10 for a short while I have upgraded again. Ubuntu 10.4 is running now and this version seems to be just as pleasant as the last. There is always the problem of getting all of my scripts transfered and working again such as what I use for this blog, but it really hasn't been that much of a pain.

I've spent some time getting it to look like I want it to and tinkering with conky to get the info that I want to have on my desktop but that wasn't really complicated. All in all I'm pleased so far.

And here is a random pic of a hawk on a post. Took this awhile back from the back door.

Schrodingers Cat

They Really Said That » Rovin » Hot Air Green Room

The reference to Schrodinger's Cat in the comment below to post linked above made me grin.

I say we stuff Krugman into Schroedinger’s box. While in the box, Krugman is both alive and dead. It is not until you open the box that you determine whether he is one or the other. Making quantum mechanics fun, that’s my goal! GnuBreed on November 12, 2009 at 11:39 PM

And if you are wondering about Schrodinger's Cat, and this.
